When someone close to us dies we are often thrust into the unfamiliar spiritual place that is grief. Other events, too – loss of a job or a life changing illness or accident, for example – can sometimes lead us to this place. It is a place that few of us are prepared for, and it can be difficult to navigate alone. One of the blessings of a religious community is that we don’t have to face life’s challenges alone. Beginning in March, the Unitarian Universalist Church of Boulder will offer a Grief Group, designed to provide a safe place where people experiencing grief can share their experiences and benefit from the support of others who are also grieving. This group, which will meet approximately every other week for six sessions, will be led by retired Unitarian Universalist minister The Rev. Penny Rather. We will focus on the spiritual aspects of grief, consistent with Unitarian Universalist values and principles.
The group will meet Thursdays March 2, 16, 30, April 20, and May 4, 18 from 1:00-2:30 in the Listening Room at UUCB
The group may decide to keep meeting after six sessions.
