With Great Joy, Your Ministerial Search Committee Announces Our Ministerial Candidate: Rev. David Schwartz!

Dear members and friends of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Boulder:

As our faith community and the world long for normalcy, your Ministerial Search Committee comes to you with good news!  Because of his warm and experienced ministerial presence, history working towards social justice, high emotional intelligence, passion for our faith and clear vision of shared ministry, we believe Rev. David Schwartz is the best match to support and guide us as we live into our mission to connect bravely, deepen spiritually, embody justice, and always love.

After learning from you about the hopes, desires and needs of the congregation and after conducting a nationwide search in which we met and were deeply impressed by several excellent ministers, it is clear to us that Rev. David is the spiritual leader this church seeks.

Rev. David believes that the saving message of Unitarian Universalism declares that you can be who you are and become who you are called to be, that you can grow your soul and serve the world, that all are welcome and all are worthy.  As a life-long Unitarian Universalist and graduate of Harvard Divinity School, Rev. David currently serves the First Unitarian Society of Chicago and Beverly Unitarian Church, also in Chicago. Information about Rev. David’s personal and ministerial history is available online at his site here.

There will be opportunities to meet and get to know Rev. David during Candidate Week from June 5th through June 13th. The schedule is now in development in coordination with our UUCB COVID Task Force to ensure the safety of our faith community. Rev. David has shared with us his excitement to meet and connect with the congregation!

The final decision will rest with the members of UUCB, who will vote on calling Rev. David Schwartz as our settled minister at the final event of Candidate Week: a Special Congregational Meeting at noon on Sunday, June 13th.  This announcement serves as 14-day notice, as stipulated in our church bylaws.

We look forward to joining with you and Rev. David during a thoughtful and joyous Candidate Week, as this church moves forward in love and covenant toward a settled ministry.

With great joy,

The Ministerial Search Committee
