Climate Action Ministry

The Climate Action Ministry (CAM) at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Boulder promotes sustainability practices at the individual and societal level. The team provides inspiration and education about how to take action on climate issues through worship services, adult and RE education programs, and multi-generational activities.

CAM led the effort for UUCB to become a Green Sanctuary congregation, which was awarded by the UUA in 2016. CAM also leads our congregation in making alliances and advocating for local, national, and global climate action.

CAM worked with our Endowment Committee on a resolution that commits the church to divesting from fossil fuels by June 2019. This resolution was passed by the Board of Trustees and affirmed by the congregation. CAM also encourages church members to engage personally with this issue.

Many members of the Climate Action Ministry are actively involved with Citizens’ Climate Lobby (CCL), a non-partisan organization working to establish a national carbon fee and dividend. Two of our CAM members serve as co-leaders of Boulder CCL, and one is a Colorado CCL state co-coordinator.

If you wish to be involved with the Climate Action Ministry, contact the church office with a note indicating your interest. We also invite you to join Commit2Respond, a coalition of Unitarian Universalists and other people of faith and conscience working for climate justice.
