We honor members, friends, visitors
Our thoughts and good wishes continue to be with: Vivian Ha’s partner, Nick who is home after being involved in a hit and run accident at Baseline and Foothills, the end of January. Nick & Vivian were crossing Foothills, on foot. His recovery estimate is twelve weeks. To Martha Bushnell and family on the death January 28th of Robert Bushnell, a UUCB member for 50 years. Rev. Dignan facilitated a wonderful memorial service, for him, which included words from family and friends. Lauren Hinkle and Dan Tillberg on the loss of the baby they were expecting in October. Peter Holt is recovering nicely from his recent hip replacement surgery. Welcome Peter, to the”Socket Sisters” auxiliary. Margaret Gelatt is back in the hospital again, and we wish her a speedy recovery. Babs Herrli asked for prayers for her brother Bruce who had heart surgery last month. Suzy Belmont asked a blessing for her cousin Alex, who will be having a baby in August. Dr. Jerry Hickman died last month in Arizona. He was a member of UUCB years ago. His wife Dory’s SundaySchool class made the stained glass in our sanctuary entry doors. Scott Schrobilgen lost his Mother the week of February 12 to cancer (diagnosed less than two weeks prior). Sunni Eckhart is in Hospice care at Manor Care. Our thoughts were once again turned toward those affected by another mass shooting last month in Parkland Florida.
Congratulations, Good Luck, Blessings, and Thanks to: Eliseo, Ingrid’s partner was released from ICE detention, after three weeks, and is re-united with his family, and back on the job. We are grateful for an understanding judge. We held a celebration on Friday (2/16) with the main food provided by Eliseo. Fred Cole and I are grateful that Jennifer & Ron Gould helped us set up for the event. There were 86 people in attendance, despite a snowy night. Rosemary Lohndorf and family are enjoying new Granddaughter Adriana Rose who is now eleven weeks old. Gen Morley & Jason English announced that they are having a baby boy in June! Our Grandson, Alac Cole turned 18 on February 4, and Elliot Dineen turned 18 on February 5.
Special Welcome to New Members: Olivia Buzek, Sarah Galloway and daughter Nell, Krishna Pattisapu, Dave Pitts, and Erica Plut. We are glad you have joined UUCB at such an exciting time in our ministry.
Random Thoughts: Because of all the recent coverage we have received in the Daily Camera since Ingrid arrived, Fred remarked, “…maybe we won’t be confused with Unity — anymore”.
Jenny Fitt-Peaster shared this reading with us, as a closing, at our Sanctuary Now! meeting last month:
I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes. Because if you are making mistakes, then you are making new things, trying new things, learning, living, pushing yourself, changing yourself, changing your world. You’re doing things you’ve never done before, and more importantly, you’re Doing Something. So…Make New Mistakes. Make glorious, amazing mistakes. Make mistakes nobody’s ever made before. Don’t freeze, don’t stop, don’t worry that it isn’t good enough, or it isn’t perfect, whatever it is: art, or love, or work or family or life. Whatever it is you’re scared of doing —
Do it! -Neil Gaimam (English author)
