We honor members, friends, visitors

Our thoughts and good wishes continue to be with:  Yehudis Fishman, our speaker for September 1st broke her wrist and was unable to be with us. Eight dead, and more than 20 broken lives from gun violence in Odessa & Midland TX.  Yasko Endo, former member, had hip surgery last month.

Congratulations, Good Luck, Blessings, and Thanks to: Rhonda & Ray Tatum shared their blessing that Baby Boy Griffin is due February 2020. Avielle Fishbein born to Sam Alvarez & Joel Fishbein on July 13th. She attended church on August 25th , and is beautiful. Fred Cole, who fifty two years ago on Sunday, September 8th came to UUCB and signed the membership book. Corbin Abbitt celebrated his 9th birthday last month. Lisa Hughes is the new Associate Volunteer Coordinator for Meals on Wheels Boulder. Bryant Moya turned 11 on September 9th.

Random Thoughts: My words from my September 22nd Chalice Lighting.

“It is my pleasure to be the Chalice Lighter for Katie’s service today. Katie was hired to advocate for Ingrid and her case. During their time together they have become friends … working hard, but laughing together as well! In the short time Katie has been here, we too have become friends. In the twenty one months since Ingrid’s arrival; I have been positioned on the door, nine hours a week, (unless we are out of town) which is seldom. I signed up for this duty; when WE as a church, voted to become a Sanctuary Church! We have welcomed Ingrid, Eliseo, Bryant, Anibal, and now (since Monday, September 16th) beautiful little Miss Elizabeth, into her new home — into our lives — into our hearts, and into my heart! Elizabeth weighed 8 lbs 2 oz and is 20 inches long, and she was born here at UUCB. Maybe we have the beginnings of our own Christmas story.

As I have done in the past when things have been hard at UUCB; I will continue to stay at the table (literally and figuratively) until our extended family can be free, and in their own home. I am not tired of my time spent getting to know this family well, and loving them — but I do have an expectation for myself; and for everyone else, as well — that we will continue to volunteer, be present, and honor our commitments.

I light our chalice today hoping that you will ask me how to get involved.  We need your love & energy!”

With Love & Care,

Barb
