We honor members, friends, visitors
Our thoughts and good wishes continue to be with: The family and UUCB friends of Mark Thompson, who died on February 17th. His Memorial was held here, on 2/20. Greta and Erty Seidohl — Greta’s uncle died the end of January. Kaitlin Abbitt remembers her mother who died a year ago, on February 26th. Melanie Weinstein, welcomed back from her sojourn in Latin America, who returned for surgery, last month. Our thoughts were with all the people, who were being evacuated from their homes because of the Sunshine fire. The tankers were passing overhead, as we Worshiped, on March 19th. We also said a prayer for the Earth, which sustains us; with the hope that everyone will treat it with the utmost care.
Congratulations, Good Luck, Blessings, and Thanks to: Happy for John & Emilia Bertin who have moved to Corpus Christi, TX, as his job with Lowe’s, was transferred. However sad for us, they promise to visit often as they have children still living in Lafayette. Jeannette V., who we are supporting in Sanctuary at 1st Unitarian Society – Denver, her birthday was February 26. Fred Cole and my Grandgirl, Abbey Cole, entered basic training on March 6th at the Great Lakes Naval Base. She is planning to become a Marine Corps Medic. Two years ago on March 5th, Debra Hammond, our Music Director, received her emergency liver transplant. She says it took a while, but her energy level has returned, and she is feeling really fine! With joy we celebrate with Laurie Hyland who is recovering, and healing well from shoulder surgery. She felt the loving energy of UUCB even as she entered surgery. Another loss for us as Danielle Fuller and her husband, Chris, are moving to Fort Collins. Sad that we are losing both Danielle and Briana, who have made so many contributions to our YAs, and UUCB — but happy for them.
Special Welcome to New Members: Missy Ashton & William Ashton, and their child Devin Burchfield, Jamie Beachy, Robert Evans & Janet Evans, former members, Ron Gould & Jennifer Gould, and Roy Pool joined our church on Sunday March 12th. We are very pleased that your journey led you to us.
Random Thoughts: On Sunday afternoon, February 26th, in Longmont, UUCB and the Boulder Valley UU Fellowship kicked off the first official gathering of The LUUP (Longmont UU Presence). We are happy to report that sixty people gathered for worship, sharing and fellowship. The next event is on April 9th from 3-5:00 pm so mark your calendars. Much more about The LUUP elsewhere in this newsletter.
The annual Ninth Grade Trip Auction was on March 19th — and even though the crowd and the cakes/pastries were fewer than in the past (two services do make a difference!) we still raised $1680.00 — and everyone there, had a great time! We will need to “re-think” how to best do this very important fund raising event for our youth. In the past, it has always been such a wonderful “all-church” event!
With Love & Care,
