We honor members, friends, visitors
Our thoughts and good wishes continue to be with: Debra Hammond who was having some health problems, but is now feeling better. The family of Betty Lovelace, an early member of the Unitarian Fellowship (now UUCB) who died last month. Her husband Wally was the Boulder Post Master for many years. Norman Metcalf -“Norm”, longtime member died in September, but we just found out from his sister recently. Janet Salmons asked us to send concern to civilians in the crossfire in Syria. Caitlin Moore who is having a serious ear problem, and can not see the specialist for two weeks.
Congratulations, Good Luck, Blessings, and Thanks to: We honored and celebrated those of us, including youth, who participated in the Climate Strike on Friday, September 20th. Suzy Belmont will be an aunt again in May as her brother’s family is expecting their second child. Cole Hart had successful top surgery in September — another important step in his transition. We are so happy for him. Lori, Tim and big brothers Jovan & Leonard Thorn are excited to share that baby Ember was born on Thursday, September 26th. She has already been to church and is beautiful. Tim & Lori Thorn also celebrated their ninth wedding anniversary on October 20. Hayden and Jonathan Williamson, long-time UUCBers send their greetings & love to UUCB via Dianne Ewing who visited them this past summer in Camden, ME. Dianne Ewing’s granddaughter got married Labor Day Sunday in Maryland. Sharon & Bill Belew are going to Kodiak, AK to meet their new grandson who was born to Sharon’s son Alex on September 9, 2019.
Vivian Ha’s partner Nick got a new job as a supervisor at a group home for six adults with autism in Chapel Hill, NC. Eliot Rowe received his Eagle Scout Rank on October 21st!
Random Thoughts: On September 30th I had a Basal Cell Carcinoma removed from my upper lip. Five stitches later, they went wide not deep, the cancer was gone, but I was left with a crooked lip at least for now. Please do not think I am snarling at you. Fred says there’s more to me than a crooked lip!
A great reason to sign up for Sanctuary door duty is you never know who you will see, much less actually meet! On a recent Saturday I showed up for my regular “work” shift and by our greeters table were two important visitors, who had come to have lunch with Ingrid, Bryant & Annibal.
Yes, I was there in time to greet Congressman Joe Neguse & Congresswoman “AOC”, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. When they left they both thanked me for doing what I was doing. I replied, “You are welcome, but no — Thank YOU two — as you are doing the heavy lifting”! My lucky day as they were both as gracious and kind as anyone you would call a friend!!
Fred says this sounds like the beginning of a bad joke — but on a Friday night last month, six UU’s walked into a North Boulder restaurant… He and I were the only ones that saw both the other couples; one as they left, and the other as we left. What are the chances that, that many UU’s could be in the same space, and not talk to each other?? place, at the same time, and not have a meeting??
With Love & Care,
Barb
