We honor members, friends, visitors
Our thoughts and good wishes continue to be with: Adrienne Hester and family, since the wonderful Memorial Service (4/02) where we celebrated Jim’s incredible life. Fred Cole’s “final hip surgery” went extremely well; no more evidence of infection; the staples have been removed; and now he’s on to PT. Four surgeries on one hip seems like more than enough. He is doing great, but does regret missing his first cake auction in over twenty years! Alex Oxford, superb Key Lime pie maker (it sold for $100 at the 9th Grade Trip cake auction) is also recovering from surgery last month. Margaret Gelatt fell and injured her ankle, and is recuperating at home. Reed Bailey is recovering from a sinus abscess, following dental surgery. “Strider” Benston a former member (still active in the Men’s Group) had serious spinal surgery last month, and is facing a long recovery period.
Congratulations, Good Luck, Blessings, and Thanks to: Our Ministerial Intern and Summer Minister from last year, Diana K. McLean, who has received her preliminary UU Ministerial Fellowship, following her successful April interview, in Boston. She will begin planning her ordination soon, so stay tuned for details! She will “walk” at the GA Service of the Living Tradition, in Columbus, in June. Also, please keep Helen McGrath in your thoughts and prayers; because after months of preparation and years of waiting — she has begun her very special journey into having a family. She welcomes your blessings for good fortune and strength!
Random thoughts: Special thanks to Reed Bailey & Bob Ford for putting our new coffee system together, and getting it ready to “pour”. Actually it was probably easier than dealing with the last system which had to be replaced twice! Our new system is a Bunn coffee maker. I’m old, but I can still remember that Bunn systems were “all the rage” in restaurants, when I was growing up; and later when I started working in them! My Volunteer Hospitality Coffee Set-up people are even more pleased than I am! Good equipment, makes my asking you to volunteer much easier. Fred asks me to remind anyone planning on going to General Assembly (June 22-26) that the Registration fee “goes up” on May 1st.
You owe it to yourself to attend the Installation of our Rev. Kelly G. Dignan on Sunday, May 1, 2016. This celebration is one of our few Unitarian Universalist “high church” events. Sign up today so her Installation Committee knows you are planning to attend.
With Love & Care, Barb
