In January of this year we began offering two services on Sunday mornings and we are pleased to affirm that our transition has gone smoothly. We have averaged attendance of 60 people during early services, and 160 during second services through February. This combined, two month average indicates a new, sustained level of attendance. UUCB is living its mission to be a beacon of liberal religion.
Having monitored this change closely and having held Open Door Forums, and staff and leadership meetings for feedback, the Strategic Initiatives Committee recommended to the Board of Trustees and the Board of Trustees approved the following:
- Continue with two Sunday Services through Summer, as well as into the 2017-2018 Church Year as reflected in the draft budget for 2017-2018.
- Move our children’s Religious Education offerings to the first service for elementary and middle schoolers, and schedule high school students to meet during the second service. This move is consistent with received feedback.
- Maintain the current two service structure, including two Fellowship Times.
Many thanks to our Reverend Kelly, staff, and the numerous volunteers that have made it possible for UUCB to deepen faith, live well, and enact justice.
Please let us know if you’ve further questions.
