Overview: Meals on Wheels of Boulder

Operating since 1969, they are celebrating 50 years in 2019 of delivering hot, nutritious meals to Boulder neighbors in need!

Over 150 volunteers prepare, pack and deliver meals and a warm smile to almost 300 recipients 5 days a week.

Meals on Wheels of Boulder does not receive state or federal money, which allows them to serve any age  or income level in need of a meal.

Meals are prepared according to individual requests, which can accommodate both dietary needs and personal preferences.

For many just leaving the hospital or rehab with new and specific requirements, Meals on wheels of Boulder can prepare everything

from chopped, ground, pureed, vegetarian, no-dairy; or simply meet personal preferences.

Meal recipients may sign up for as many days a week as needed, and they can receive extra meals on Fridays to ensure

They have food during the weekend.  Costs are determined on a sliding scale based on the client’s self-reported income,

With the highest meal cost at $6 and the lowest at just $.25 cents.  Volunteers drive over 168,000 miles a year to make

Sure those who are home-bound and socially isolated get good nutrition and see a friendly face each day.

For many Meals on Wheels is more than a hot meal.  The service supports those trying to maintain their independence,

Caregivers who need a break, or those who need a little extra help while they recover from injury or illness.
