SUMMARY:Roots of Injustice\, Seeds of Change Workshop
DESCRIPTION:The Tipi Raisers Volunteers and Racial Justice Ministry have joined together to bring the Toward Right Relationship with Native Peoples workshop to the community. The goal of the interactive workshop is for participants to understand the legacy of the Doctrine of Discovery as it has affected both the European colonizers and the Indigenous people of the United States since 1492. They hope to stimulate reflection\, discussion\, and appropriate actions toward justice\, healing\, and “right relationship” among all people of this land. \nThe program was developed in response to calls from Indigenous leaders at the United Nations and the World Council of Churches\, who urge faith communities and civic organizations to repudiate the Doctrine of Discovery and support implementation of the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.
