In particular\, we will focus on the most tax beneficial giving strategies. We will explain why it is more tax efficient to do a qualified charitable distribution (QCD) than a required minimum distribution (RMD); why you should hold a highly appreciated stock for at least 1 year before donating; and how donation bunching can save thousands of dollars on your tax bill.

While our culture is starting to deconstruct the gender binary\, our linguistic structure reinforces the very division and discrimination that we seek to end. Together\, we will explore how we as Unitarian Universalists–and as a church community–can create a culture of belonging through pronouns and a new grammar of inclusion. \n“We are not what other people say we are.  We are who we know ourselves to be.” \n—Laverne Cox \n  \nRev. Teri Schwartz (she/her) is a UU Minister and the founder of Spirit+Strategy\, a pastoral care\, coaching\, and consulting practice\, and currently serves as the worship minister for the Juneau UU Fellowship.  Formly\, she served as Senior Co- Minister of First Unitarian Church of Chicago\, along with her husband and colleague\, our Rev. David Schwartz. As a clergy couple and partners in crime\, the Schwartzes (mostly) stay out of trouble by staying in church.  A graduate of Harvard Divinity School and Brown University\, she has formerly served as a chaplain in hospitals\, palliative care\, hospice\, and to UU seminarians.  She lives in Longmont\, with David\, their two kids\, ages 15 and 12\, a giant 170-pound St. Bernard dog\, but it’s really their three cats that run the household.

DESCRIPTION:LUUP Campus\, Longmont UCC Church\, 1500 9th Ave\, Longmont \nCome and experience a dinner service format\, which will weave meaning-making with the sharing and eating of the meal. This non-traditional worship is all ages inclusive. Revs. Teri and David Schwartz will be leading the service. Because of the nature of a dinner service\, participants will not be wearing masks for most of the time together. \nThis dinner service lifts up gratitude for the many peoples of our American story: indigenous Wampanoags\, English Pilgrims\, and many more—and the causes for gratitude in each of our own lives. \nThe meal will be potluck – a chance to use up those Thanksgiving leftovers or make a favorite recipe.  It is helpful if you mark your food items\, and if you have dietary restrictions please consider bring a meal that works for you.  Or  just come and enjoy – there will be plenty for all.

DESCRIPTION:Bring your family and friends and celebrate Thanksgiving Day with UUCBers and Boulder Valley UU Fellowship members and friends at 2 p.m. at the Fellowship. The address can be found at https://www.bvuuf.org/. Sign up at UUCB or watch for on-line sign-up info to come. After Sunday\, Nov. 19\, call Dianne Ewing (303-776-0227) to sign up. It is important  to know that if you decide at the last minute\, you can still come\, but bring a substantial dish to share. Maybe bring a roast chicken from the deli at the grocery store\, or a large frozen entree. \nThe Fellowship would love to have you help with set up or clean up too\, if at all possible! They help us when we host. We will alternate hosting\, in the future\, as we did for decades\, now that the worst of the Covid pandemic is over. \nWe expect to have the traditional Thanksgiving foods\, but nontraditional food is also welcome and encouraged!  Bring enough to serve at least three times the number of people who are coming with you. A family of 5 could bring\, for example\, mashed potatoes for 15\, or they could bring mashed potatoes for 7 or 8 and a gallon of cider. Are there traditional foods from your childhood that you’d like to see on the menu? Bring some to share! We are looking for a UUCBer to bring a turkey ready to serve. Usually each congregation provides a large turkey. We will have omnivores\, but also vegans and vegetarians\, and some who are gluten intolerant or lactose intolerant\, so you will need to label ingredients unless they are obvious such as a tray of raw vegetables. \nThis is a great way to entertain your out of town guests and not have to prepare the entire meal yourself! Plan to record that football game and enjoy a wonderful feast with lively and friendly UUCBers and BVUUFers!
