We’ll walk through the flow and function of the service right as we do it in an effort to discover how to get more from a Sunday morning. Our 9:00am service will be for all ages and our youth group will join the 11am service. \nAfter both services\, it’s time for a fire safety refresher! Our safety and accessibility team will lead us through a drill after each service on how to evacuate safely.

DESCRIPTION:Our new music director Dr. Emily Koriath invites newcomer and longtime singers alike to a choir retreat Saturday\, February 17 from 11-1. This will give us a chance to spend some time together outside the weekly bustle of rehearsals and services\, get to know each other\, and covenant together around these next few months. This is a fantastic time to invite those friends who have been thinking about choir but haven’t yet made the leap! It will be a fresh start for all of us.\n\n(Note that after the service on Feb 4\, the choir will have a break from rehearsal until February 22. This will give us two good rehearsals plus the retreat before our first service together on Sunday\, March 3.)

DESCRIPTION:Family’s Night Out is a quarterly\, catered event where caregivers and parents eat dinner in the Sky Room while kids have dinner separately. \nWe’ll be having our third Family’s Night Out of the year on February 16th. \nCost is $20/family to cover the cost of food. We meet “in-person” in the Sunshine Canyon Room\, at Fraiser Meadows Retirement Center (350 Ponca Place\, Boulder) on the second Wednesday of each month; from 10:00 – 12:00 am.\n\n\n\n\n\nThere is no lower-age attendance criteria; members simply self-select. Existing members declare that “The purpose and mission of the UUCB Senior Salon is to openly\, respectfully and lovingly share among ourselves\, relevant stories\, and information about facing and thriving in the later stages of life.” \nSenior Salon also meets (via Zoom) on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the month. from 10:00 – 11:00 am. SUMMARY:Spiritual Care for Climate Distress
DESCRIPTION:The climate crisis is an everything crisis. It is an environmental crisis\, an infrastructure crisis\, a political\, social\, and economic crisis. It’s a health crisis\, and it has become an emotional and spiritual crisis. \nThere are different ways of describing what people might be experiencing\, including eco-anxiety\, eco-guilt\, eco-dread\, eco-despair\, eco-depression\, eco-grief\, solastalgia\, and biospheric concern. Climate Anxiety will soon be named as a mental health disorder in the DSM. Among the impacts of this distress is a feeling of paralysis or stuckness. We can become immobilized and unmotivated to act for climate justice. \nThere is no quick fix\, and yet research shows that gathering in community to companion one another is a primary strategy for addressing this distress. Churches are perfectly situated to do this. When we metabolize our feelings together\, we prevent becoming paralyzed. Also\, reimagining the future we want can soothe this anxiety while also helping us recommit to meaningful action. \nUUCB’s Climate Action Ministry invites you to gather in community for a workshop led by Rev. Kelly Dignan\, Co-Director of UU Ministry for Earth. \n\nElements will include:\nShort presentation on eco-distress – what is it; how you know if you have it\nNaming and honoring pain\nMeditation outside in nature (weather permitting)\nEasy to do nature art\nThe role of meaningful action in processing our grief\nSmall and large group sharing throughout\n\nFebruary 11\, 1:00 – 3:15 p.m. following the Sunday service and a light lunch at 12:30 p.m.\nLocation: Earth Room (depending on number of registrants) max: 50 \nPlease register by February 4th here.
