DESCRIPTION:Celebrate the 101st anniversary of this annual Unitarian service at this one intergenerational 10:00am service! Norbert Čapek\, founder of the Unitarian Church in Czechoslovakia\, saw the need to unite the diverse congregants of his church from varying Protestant\, Catholic\, and Jewish faiths. For this reason\, in 1923\, he honored the universal beauty of nature by having a communion of flower instead of the Eucharist. Please bring a flower to share during the service.\n \nGather for a pancake breakfast at 9:00am\, then this one all-church intergenerational service at 10:00\, and our annual meeting at 11:00.

DESCRIPTION:Family’s Night Out is a quarterly\, catered event where caregivers and parents eat dinner in the Sky Room while kids have dinner separately. \nOctober’s Family’s Night Out is based off (UU) Ray Bradbury’s novella The Halloween Tree. In the story kids dressed as a witch\, mummy\, skeleton\, and monster travel through time to learn about the origins of their costumes. In our version each room down the RE wing as well as the Hearth Room will be decorated as a different place with reenactors from our community explaining the ancestor-based practices that inspired Halloween. We’ll travel to Medieval Europe to learn about Samhain\, Ancient Egypt to learn about Wag\, and Mexico to discover Dia de Los Muertos. Along our journey we’ll play games\, get candy\, and have lots of fun! \nCost is $20/family to cover the cost of food\, however if this is at all a hardship you’re welcome to pay what feels right to you.
