The Starting Point for you!

The New Year is a perfect time to fall in love with UUCB for the first time, or all over again!  Join us on January 5th and 12th, 1-2:30pm for Starting Point, a 2-part series that will encourage

  • Building social bonds
  • Learning more about our faith, history, and community
  • Exploring your spirituality
  • Discovering ways to connect in the church

While this class is required for visitors considering Membership, it is designed to appeal to everyone. We provide a light lunch. Please RSVP to Beth Elliot at and indicate if you need childcare or have any dietary restrictions.

New Sunday Morning Volunteer System

We are beginning a new way to do Sunday morning volunteer coordination. We are asking people to sign up for just one, regular slot per month

Pick the area you most enjoy: Coffee Set-Up, Coffee Clean-Up, or Ushering. Sign up with a family member or a friend, to make it something fun you share. You can even claim a spot for a group, like the Chancel Choir. If there is a month that you will be traveling, you are sick, or you just need a break, there will be another list of people ready to substitute.

Feel like you can’t commit to a regular slot? Then consider joining the group of substitutes. That way, you can still participate, but with more flexibility.

Want to help but don’t know how to usher or make coffee? No worries! We will be having a volunteer training soon.

To choose your volunteer slot, sign-up for training, or shower the Director of Congregational Life with compliments, contact Beth Elliot at or look for the sign-up in the Sky Room during December during Coffee Hours.

Joining Ceremony coming up!

Are you ready to become a member of UUCB? Have you completed the Starting Point program? Then you are ready for the next UUCB Joining Ceremony. Contact Beth Elliot, at, to RSVP or with questions.

Opportunity Fair in January!

One of the most important ways to have church programs thrive is visibility! On January 19th, 2020 UUCB will host an Opportunity Fair, a chance for church programs to share information about themselves. This will include sign-up for the next session of Covenant Groups. Be sure to drop by and to update your information in the church directory. To sign your group up for a table, contact Beth Elliot at To explore the Opportunity Fair drop in the Sky Room for Coffee Hour on January 19th. See you there!

UUA Common Read

Are you or your UUCB group reading the UUA’s Common Read? This year it is An Indigenous Peoples’ History of the United States by Roxanne Dunbar-Ortiz (Beacon Press, 2015) and An Indigenous Peoples’ History of the United States for Young People adapted by Jean Mendoza and Debbie Reese (Beacon Press, 2019). If you and/or your group plan on using this book, please contact Beth Elliot at so we can see if we are eligible for an ordering discount. Thank you!
