SUMMARY:Roots of Injustice\, Seeds of Change Workshop
DESCRIPTION:The Tipi Raisers Volunteers and Racial Justice Ministry have joined together to bring the Toward Right Relationship with Native Peoples workshop to the community. The goal of the interactive workshop is for participants to understand the legacy of the Doctrine of Discovery as it has affected both the European colonizers and the Indigenous people of the United States since 1492. They hope to stimulate reflection\, discussion\, and appropriate actions toward justice\, healing\, and “right relationship” among all people of this land. \nThe program was developed in response to calls from Indigenous leaders at the United Nations and the World Council of Churches\, who urge faith communities and civic organizations to repudiate the Doctrine of Discovery and support implementation of the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. We’ll walk through the flow and function of the service right as we do it in an effort to discover how to get more from a Sunday morning. Our 9:00am service will be for all ages and our youth group will join the 11am service. \nAfter both services\, it’s time for a fire safety refresher! DESCRIPTION:The UUCB Climate Action Ministry (CAM) is focused on enacting justice by educating our members and the community on the impacts of climate change and its solutions\, and by providing opportunities for our members and friends to act to solve it. Each year\, we plan a cycle of activities which might include advocacy and direct action\, education for the congregation and community\, and tools to make tangible change. \nWe meet monthly\, August – May\, usually the fourth Wednesday of each month. (This month our March 7th meeting is a reschedule of our February meeting\, then we’ll also have our regular March meeting later this month on the 27th.)
