Howdy. I’m Chris.
I’ve been in Colorado since 2004. I started out in Denver and moved further away every year until I finally landed in the Boulder/Superior area. I’m married to an amazing partner and we’ve got 2 monsters with us 50% of the time. I have a very jaded opinion of organized religion, and had never heard of a UU church before my partner introduced it to me. And I’m glad she did, hearing Rev. David during services and meeting the wonderful congregation has made me feel at ease and home. I’m very excited to become a UU member.

Hi! My name is Julia. My religious experience is grounded in Catholicism. I was raised in the Catholic church but as I grew up, I found myself being more spiritual and less religious. At Seattle University (a Jesuit college) I started to explore the more controversial and often hypocritical side of Catholicism and became a “buffet Catholic,” accepting the principles that aligned with my beliefs and leaving those that did not. Principally, I didn’t agree with the church’s stance on homosexuality, divorce, and priesthood/the role of women. For several years I didn’t attend church. While living in Washington, DC, I heard about Unitarian Universalism and decided to try out All Souls UU Church. Unlike my experience with the Catholic Church, I felt like I agreed with all of the teachings and principles. I particularly was drawn to the focus on social justice, seeking truth, and embracing diverse thought. And then the pandemic hit and I stopped going to All Souls. I made the decision to leave DC and head for the mountains, landed in Boulder, met my husband, became a family, went through a wildfire, and bought a house. As we began to settle into life post pandemic, I was yearning to build community. I googled UU churches in the Boulder area and found UUCB. After attending several services and Wine and Spirit events, we decided to make it official and become members. We are so happy to join this community!
