Friday Afternoon Women’s Book Group

Who: Readers who can relate and support the experiences of women

What: Book Club

When: We meet the second Friday of each month from 1:30 – 2:30 PM

Where: UUCB – Emerson Room

For many of our members, Friday Afternoon Books (FAB) was the first connection that was made in the church – an easy place for them to meet others and ask about the church without feeling intimidated or awkward. All of our books help to deepen spiritually through discussion of the topics in an accepting environment, with members whose backgrounds reflect a wide variety of beliefs and experiences. Books such as Maus, The Bookwoman of Troublesome Creek, The Dictionary of Lost Words, and Burnt Shadows help to explore different ways that varied people embody justice in their own lives, which we can learn from.

Each year, members suggest and vote together on books to read which are written by or feature women in a prominent role, as well as reflect UU principles and/or sources of inspiration.

You do not need to belong to the church to join us — we gladly welcome you into this community!
