For many of our members, Friday Afternoon Books (FAB) was the first connection that was made in the church – an easy place for them to meet others and ask about the church without feeling intimidated or awkward. All of our books help to deepen spiritually through discussion of the topics in an accepting environment, with members whose backgrounds reflect a wide variety of beliefs and experiences. Books such as Maus, The Bookwoman of Troublesome Creek, The Dictionary of Lost Words, and Burnt Shadows help to explore different ways that varied people embody justice in their own lives, which we can learn from. Each year, members suggest and vote together on which books to read.
