Connect Bravely at our all-church retreat. Registration is now open for the event at beautiful Highlands Camp and Retreat Center in Allenspark, a 45-minute drive from Boulder. This year’s retreat features a full slate of kid programming, a Lego-based plenary activity, and pond canoeing and swimming, along with old favorites for all ages:
Accommodations
A number of lodging options are available: retreat center rooms, cabins, tents, and RV parking. Rates are per-person and include meals.
Retreat center: Rooms for 4 people with attached modern bathrooms and single beds, with bedding and towels provided. . All beds are single beds with adequate spacing to allow unrelated adults some privacy (read: this is not a hotel room.) Some rooms feature pull-out couches and accommodate up to six people. We are encouraging folks who wish to stay at the retreat center to “bunk up” to maximize the space. Please indicate people you would be comfortable sharing a retreat-style room with.
Cabin and tent lodgers need to bring their own bedding and towels. Cabins are in two styles: a rustic, “cozier” cabin with a bathroom or a larger “bunkhouse”-style cabin that sleeps up to 12 per room. If you have a strong preference, please indicate so in your form.
RVs are allowed but limited electrical hookups are available on a first-come first-serve basis.

FAQs
Can I have a room by myself in the retreat center?
The retreat center sleeping rooms are in the same building as the meeting rooms where most activities and meals take place. Unfortunately space in the retreat center is limited, so we must encourage folks to “bunk up”. Most rooms are semi-divided so that 2 beds are separated by a bathroom, providing some privacy from other roommates. You can see more in the layout descriptions.
Can my party sleep in an RV and attend all events? What is the cost?
You may bring an RV and park onsite. RVs are allowed anywhere that is not disruptive to parking.
The cost is too expensive for my budget; are scholarships available?
Yes; email UUCB.retreat@gmail.com before July 1.
Where should we sleep with an infant or very small kids?
We don’t recommend tent camping with very young children as (it gets pretty cold at night even in August) but any of the other options can be accommodated. We suspect most parents with very small children would be most comfortable in the retreat center, where full access to refrigerators, bottles, and all mealtimes will take place. Some cabins have closer parking than others for schlepping kid gear. Contact kerriwingert@gmail.com for more information about this; she took an infant in 2022.
What if I need an accommodation for a physical disability?
We want to help you participate to the fullest! The center has ramps, elevators, hearing assistance devices, and high-quality microphones. Moreover, it will be full of people who want to reduce any barriers to your participation. Please let us know how we can support you or your loved ones to attend fully.
Can I attend just Saturday?
Yes; send an email toUUCB.retreat@gmail.com There will be a charge of $36 for adults and $27 for kids 6-12 to cover meals.
Can I get a paper registration form?
These are available in the office. A check for payment is required to secure your registration if you are not registering online.
Will my special dietary needs be addressed?
Yes. You can indicate your needs on the registration form and you can talk directly to the Highland Retreat Center staff in advance if you need special care with an allergen or sensitivity. Highlands has encouraged participants to contact them directly.
Can I bring my own meals?
Yes; a refrigerator is available in the dining hall’s kitchen for you to bring a heatable meal to enjoy at mealtimes. Please label your food with your name and the date of the retreat.
Can I get a carpool?
Carpool riders and drivers should meet at 4pm at UUCB on Friday August 9, to return Sunday Aug 11 at approximately 2pm.
