Who: People who are passionate about history
What: Managing the records of UUCB
When: TBD
Where: UUCB
The Archives of UUCB holds information on the history of the church from 1948 to the present. People gain a sense of belonging when they feel part of something larger than themselves; when they can see the legacies of those who came before and can imagine creating their own. We hope to foster this sense of belonging and engagement by making the story of our past accessible.
Our Archives securely store paper and digital documents that relate to congregational governance, meetings, worship services, and publications; a digital photo archive; and documents that church ministry committees choose to archive.
Our current priorities are:
Continuing to collect and store the documents created by UUCB (recordings of services, meeting minutes, and newsletters, as well as photos of church community events)
Digitizing our historic documents to make it easier to access them.
Smaller, Fun Projects are available to members or friends of the Archives Team, such as:
Updating the Archives Bulletin Board
Creating a “Throwback Thursday” entry for the Messenger
Identifying people and events in our Google photo archives
Preparing material for a committee or ministry in which you are already a part to be archived (e.g.: converting meeting minutes to pdfs and sharing them with the Archives Team, or digitizing photos from committee events).
Helping to scan and upload documents
Having the ability to navigate Google Workspace and Google Drive, or the willingness to learn how to do this, is helpful!
We meet weekly! Please contact Ginny Black (blackv01@gmail.com) or Nicole Ball (nicoleball925@gmail.com) for details.
