Welcome to Expansion News – the source for updates on our building project!
On Sunday, January 12, at both services and during the two coffee hours, Scott Rodwin and the three other architects who will be working on our UUCB Expansion Project will be with us. This will be a great opportunity for the congregation to meet the architects, so we thought we would take some time to get you acquainted before Sunday!
Scott Rodwin, AIA, LEED AP, NCARB is the CEO of Skycastle Construction and Principal of Rodwin Architecture. He was named the 2006 “Young Architect of the Year” by the AIA for the Western Mountain Region, and was one of Colorado Construction’s 2009 Top 20 Under 40. He has been a leader in the green building field for twenty five years, and has won more than two dozen local and national sustainable design awards. Scott has taught residential green building for the City of Boulder, the American Institute of Architects, USGBC, the Colorado Green Building Guild and currently teaches Green Building at Naropa University. Scott’s love of the Architect-led design/build process began while he was working as a framer on construction sites in college. He received his architectural degree from Cornell University in 1991.
Kristin Zuro, AIA, is an Architect and Project Manager at Rodwin Architecture. Kristin has spent the majority of her career designing high-end custom residences. She earned a B.A. in Architecture and a B.S. in Geography from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2011. Kristin completed her Masters of Architecture in 2015 at the University of Colorado, Denver. Kristin’s design approach centers on creating vibrant authentic architecture that inspires a sense of wellbeing, and her aesthetic often blends indoor and outdoor spaces, promoting a sense of flow with the exterior landscape. She enjoys closely collaborating with clients to develop architectural solutions that are both functional and timeless. Outside the office, Kristin loves to travel, do yoga, and garden. She spends most of her time outdoors, hiking, paddle boarding, and camping.
Blake Sullivan, AIA, is an Associate, Architect, and Project Manager at Rodwin Architecture. Having grown up around the entire country and abroad, Blake has been at home in Boulder for over twenty years. He earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from The University of Colorado. His unwavering curiosity surrounding the built environment has driven his passions for sustainable design and construction methodologies. Having experience working in both the residential and commercial sectors, he has been fortunate to design a broad range of project types throughout his career. Blake finds great joy in the design process and working to meet the functional needs of clients while exploring timeless and contemporary aesthetics. When not at work or obsessing about all things design, Blake can be found in the garden, cooking, cycling or spending time with his teenage daughter.
Fernando Gonzalez, Senior Associate, is a Project Manager/Senior Architectural Designer at Rodwin Architecture. He has a background in commercial and educational architecture. A significant part of his childhood was spent in Mexico, where he was exposed to the importance of having a sense of community in the built environment. His natural attraction to beauty, creativity, and exploring connection between people and their surroundings not only led him to a career in architecture, but also drives his passion for design, soccer, and dance. Fernando earned his Master of Architecture degree from Texas Tech University in 2006. A year later, he moved to Colorado, fell in love with it, and has been living here since. His interest in sustainable and affordable design eventually led him to join Rodwin Architecture.
