Membership Matters – July 2022

Date

We honor members, friends, visitors

Kendall Richards died at 2:30 am, on Friday, July 8th.

Our thoughts and good wishes are with:

  • Former member Gail Fraser, who has Alzheimer’s, cannot recognize her family, is currently in hospice, in Lafayette.
  • Giving thanks for the generous life of Harvey Banks whose memorial service was last month.
  • Diana Maiden is home recovering well from shoulder surgery with the assistance of daughters, Annah & Naomi, who grew up here at UUCB.
  • Gary Herrli is also home recovering from back surgery last month.
  • Tuesday, June 28 at 6:30 p.m. Kendall Richards, member, and daughter of Barb & Fred Cole/Richards was found unresponsive, at home. The EMTs were called, and she was taken to the ER at Boulder Community. Placed on a respirator, sedated, and transferred to the ICU, diagnosed with a “brain bleed” or stroke. Spent a short time out of the ICU, but is now back, and still in critical condition. No visitors, for now.

Congratulations, Good Luck, Blessings, and Thanks to:

  • Mary Dineen & Sue Masterson are so proud of their son Elliot who graduated last month from the University of Denver.
  • Susan & Tim Bailey attended their grandson, Benjamin Mollborn’s, graduation in Sweden. He graduated from Lund-Dans-och Musikalgymnasium!
  • Bill Osher has been asked to serve on the National Board for Brookdale Retirement homes. He and wife Diane Thomas live in the Brookdale Meridian facility.

Random Thoughts:

UUA General Assembly was excellent this year in Portland, OR. Fred and I were Volunteers which we always enjoy. We were front row, center when Rev. Gretchen Haley, minister at Foothills UU Church in Fort Collins gave the Sunday morning sermon. She received a standing ovation (unusual for Sunday Worship).

We at UUCB can feel proud, because Gretchen literally began her ministerial journey here! Rev. Howell Lind brought her here as an Intern, (I was Chair of her Intern Committee). She graduated “top of the class” from the Iliff School of Ministry, and UUCB ordained her in our sanctuary in 2012. Giving the Sunday morning service at GA is both “High Church” and high praise!
