Membership Matters – March 2023

Date

We honor members, friends, visitors

Our thoughts and good wishes continue to be with:
  • Former Member Lynne Rummel died in December.  On Saturday, February 25th we said a tender farewell to her.  Her spirit joined all the other ancestors here in our Sanctuary.
  • The passing of Rev. Tom Stiers, a retired Congregational Minister, and sixty-year friend of Fred Cole.  Tom and Fred’s first wives met in an obstetrician’s office when both were pregnant with their first born, in Corning NY.  Tom and Brenda retired to Boulder in 2013.  Brenda died a few years later. Tom, and his second wife were part of the Fraiser Retirement community, and were known by several of our members.
  • Becky Root shared that on February 7th her younger brother, Joe Root, had a heart attack and died — suddenly, and completely unexpectedly, as he was getting ready for work. She and her family were all in a bit of shock.
  • Henry Kroll asked that we think of the Turkish & Syrian people and families suffering and rebuilding from their recent earthquake.
  • Our beloved Rev. Barbara Molfese is home recovering from a stay in the hospital.  She is very happy to report that her heart is strong so no cardio problem. The blood clots are related to her knee replacement that is still not healed.  On medication without restrictions.
  • Robin Miller’s good friend Sean left his quarantine of thirty one days, after a successful bone marrow transplant.
Congratulations, Good Luck, Blessings, and Thanks to:
  • Sharon & Bill Belew shared that it was great joy having had their grandchildren (they brought their parents) visiting from Sweden and Alaska.
Special Welcome to New and Returning Members:
Mary Smart, Karen & Jim Churnside, Jack Rummel, and Marc Esenwein.  We are so glad you joined our community, sharing both our love — and our mission!

Random Thoughts:  My cousin, Myra Jean Morganstein Starr, died from ALS on February 16th at age 76.  We are cousins from my dad’s side and an interesting group.  We were only five, and all females so this is the end of this Morganstein line as we have no family history available.  Three of us were also only children, which includes me, so now her younger sister joins us as an only.  Myra lived in Houma, LA, her sister in Katy, TX, our oldest cousin in New Orleans, LA and one in Albuquerque, NM who grew up in Memphis, TN.  I was the only one not raised in the South.  Thanks to trains and many road trips we were able to spend time together during our youth.  Our parents came from Bessarabia, Romania, and three of our dad’s died by fifty.  As a nineteen year old I had not asked the questions we all wish we now had asked, and there is so much we do not know. As I grow older, that missing family history gains more, and more importance to me.
Love.Care.Hugs.Energy,
Barb
