Elementary School

Kindergarten through 5th Grade Religious Education Meet during the 9am and 11am Services on Sundays.

At the 9am service we split the group into Kindergarten through 2nd Grade and 3rd through 4th grade. At the 11am we keep the Kindergarten through 5th grade together.

We offer a space for children to participate in a caring community of adults and other children.  Our classes nurture the innate spirituality of each child, cultivate UU values, and explore a variety of answers to the big questions of life.

We begin in the 9am service with the adults to enjoy a Time for All Ages with the whole community, then we continue to explore the themes for the week in class.

Class has four parts:

(1) Chalice Lighting and Check In, which includes a blessings and concerns ceremony that is similar to what the adults do in services;

(2) We introduce the week’s theme through conversation and/or story;

(3) we explore the theme further with a play-based or expressive/creative activity;

(4) We conclude with a reflective activity that gives each student an opportunity to share what they’ve learned.

We aim to offer spiritual nourishment to your students in the same way you are offered spiritual nourishment in services at UUCB.
