UUCB is hosting a Justice Town Hall with the Boulder NAACP and several other groups working for justice in our community. This will take place at our church on Saturday, June 15th @ 1:30PM. [NOTE: This event has been postponed. An update to follow.] The purpose is to educate people on the status of the hiring of a new Chief of Police.

Stephen Redfearn was appointed Interim Chief of Police in January of this year, after being hired from the Aurora Police Department in 2021. Mr. Redfearn had been a commander when Elijah McClain was killed and testified during the trial that he had changed the reason for the stop from suspicious person to assault on an officer, without investigating. He also was involved in the litigated shutting down of a violin vigil for Elijah, which Aurora settled for $270,000. This town hall hopes to lay out some of the facts that may not be generally known. He is a candidate for Boulder Chief of Police. More details will be forthcoming.
