The Building Expansion Teams were preparing to host our Capital Campaign Consultant, Kay Crider, to conduct a Financial Feasibility Study that would help us estimate what the budget for our project might be.  Preparations were well underway and a cross section of members were chosen and invited to participate.  And then, our country’s leadership decided to escalate a trade war, which rocked the stock market and made financial futures uncertain. 

The Capital Campaign team had to ask ourselves whether it made sense to hold the study now, when we’re all uncertain what the economic future will hold. Meeting with the Building Design team, our Board liaison member, Joe Polman and Rev. David, we considered various possibilities. Ultimately, we came to the consensus that delaying the study a few months would be best, to give some time for the volatility to die down– or at least to give us time to get used to it.

But rest assured that even as this component of the project is delayed, the rest of the project is continuing! We’re dedicated to arriving at an expansion that will support our growth in numbers and in commitment to our mission. The Rodwin architects are hard at work on revising building designs and exploring all possibilities for a solution to our water issues. There will be another Visioning Session to present revised building plans and plenty of opportunities for you to give your comments and ask questions. We actually think that all of this will be beneficial to the future financial feasibility study, as we’ll all have a better idea of what we want to accomplish with our building expansion. 

As we move forward, don’t hesitate to speak with Expansion Team members wearing “Ask Me About the Expansion” buttons.  Also, after Sunday services, team members who can answer your questions and take your suggestions will be at the Expansion News bulletin board or outdoors at the Expansion News sign.
