UUCB Building Design Team Seeking Members – Come Join Us!

Date

This Sunday (November 9th) at 12:30 we’ll hold a special congregational vote to authorize a Capital Campaign to expand the building – we hope to see you there!

In anticipation of this next phase of the project, we’re getting a jump start on recruiting folks to join the Building Design Team (BDT). We’re hoping to increase capacity for the work ahead, and to add people with the skills needed to support us finalizing the design and moving into construction.

The upcoming work for the BDT includes:

  • Detailed design for the entire project, including interior and aesthetics (through April 2026),
  • Preparing for construction (bid and permits) through spring/summer,
  • Beginning construction in summer/fall.

This committee is doing important work to build our future home and fulfill our mission.

If you are interested in joining these efforts or would like to recommend  someone, please use this form to make the nomination. Nominations are requested by November 10.  The Expansion Project Team and the Board will work together to select from the nominations. Email the Board at uucb-board@uuchurchofboulder.org with questions.

Timeframe

The Detailed Design phase will be the focus through January 2026 with additional bid and construction documents completed from February to April. A congregational vote will be held on April 12, 2026 to approve the budget and proceed with construction. Construction to begin after the final design, construction contract, and permits are completed, planned for Summer or Fall 2026.

It is our hope that team members will continue through the construction phases of the project. The building team requires a high level of commitment. Expect to meet at least twice per month, and to spend several hours a week on committee work..

Building Team Objectives

  • To imagine and deliver the most beautiful and functional design possible within the bounds of our space and resources, and to see it come to fruition and occupancy in a timely manner and within the established budget.
  • To foster continued cohesion and positive energy for all stakeholders throughout the project.
  • To operate in covenantal relationships internally as a team and in close and regular collaboration with the Capital Campaign Team and the Board of Trustees.
