Welcome to Expansion News – the source for updates on our building project!
Please join us Saturday morning Feb 8 for this significant UUCB event! We hope to include more people and their ideas, drawn out through a series of engaging activities!
What are your hopes for the expansion of our church home? What is important that should be included? What will create a welcoming, inclusive space that meets the needs of this community?

The Two Sessions are Different! – The February 8th session will gather community input on the expansion of the church facility. The March 8th session will summarize themes from the first one and present concepts for reaction and comment.
What to Expect in February’s Session – Please arrive by 8:45 am to register, grab a coffee and get settled before the 9:00 start. We’ll open with brief remarks from UUCB leaders and the Rodwin Architecture team to provide context for the project. Then we’ll jump into a series of interactive activities (led by the Rodwin team) designed to gather input from participants on their vision for the future of the church. Attendees will be encouraged to share their ideas and thoughts in a creative and open environment through activities such as roundtable discussions and brainstorming. It will be active and engaging! And we’ll have designated note-takers to record the key points from each discussion.
Refreshments – Snacks and beverages will be available. Please RSVP so we can plan for seating and refreshments.
HOMEWORK! – Everyone is encouraged (not required) to bring images that inspire you for this renovation – photos, drawings or magazine clippings (for electronic images, please forward them in advance for printing to blake@rodwinarch.com). These images can be practical, inspirational, whimsical, or perhaps convey a feeling or mood. Bring one or a handful. In one activity, these images will be displayed for all participants to consider.
Include Children and Youth – Youth (middle/high school) are encouraged to participate in the full Visioning event. Children (K/Elementary) will have their own guided visioning activities in the Listening room. Childcare will be available for the youngest.
Why We’re Undertaking an Expansion – The expansion project is driven by the UUCB’s intention to remain at its current site and accommodate future growth. The project aims to create a facility that is fully upgraded, welcoming to all attendees, and equipped with modern amenities. The church’s existing facility was originally constructed in 1963, with a significant renovation in 1981. While regular maintenance and updates have taken place, the building remains largely in its original condition.
Why We’re Doing Visioning – The Visioning Session is an important step in the church’s expansion project. The feedback gathered from the community will be used to inform the design and planning process. UUCB is committed to creating a space that is welcoming, inclusive, and meets the needs of the community. This Visioning Session is an opportunity for the community to help shape the future of the church.
Come join the conversation! Participate in Visioning and contribute your ideas and hopes for our expanded facilities, to help shape the future of UUCB!
