At the UU Church of Boulder, the way we raise and spend money reflects our deepest values, such as what most needs care and attention in people’s lives, what it means to be a just employer, and where we most need to invest in our future to feed our vision for building the Beloved Community.
Everything we do, from our justice work to our community service, from cultivating the next generation of children to embrace progressive values to offering transformative programs for adults, is supported financially by the people of UUCB. We don’t receive any outside funding.
Here we work to talk openly and directly about the financial realities of creating this community, and the financial complexities of life today. We don’t ask people to give until it hurts, we ask them to give until they feel good about that gift – to give in order to create this community for each other!
For most of the year, we share our weekly offering 50/50 with local nonprofits doing tangible work to make this community, country, and the world a better place: groups like Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains, Boulder Food Rescue, the Colorado Agrivoltaic Learning Center, Safehouse Progressive Alliance for Nonviolence (SPAN), and Rise Against Suicide. Members of UUCB nominate the groups, and we vote as a congregation to select the organizations with whom we share our plate.
Because our work requires so much and is 100 percent funded by the members of our UUCB Community, we ask everyone who participates at UUCB to make an annual pledge of financial support.
Gifts to this “Donate” fund directly support our day-to-day operations. Your donation supports us in being a just employer who compensates our staff team fairly, and maintaining our building as a central hub for our community.
There are significant tax benefits for a donor who transfers stocks, bonds or mutual funds to UUCB. You can fulfill your pledge or make an undesignated donation by using this method.
As part of your legacy planning, you can make a gift to UUCB. Several different endowment funds support the life and mission of the congregation.
