Update on Holiday Meals at UUCB

Date

Instead of Circle Suppers in November and December, there will be holiday meals! On Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 23, we are invited to the Boulder Valley UU Fellowship in Lafayette for a collaborative Thanksgiving pot luck feast at 2 p.m. in their building, 1241 Ceres Drive, not far off of South Boulder Road. All UUs and their families and friends are invited. For decades we have alternated hosting a Thanksgiving feast with the Fellowship. We’ve enjoyed the traditional Thanksgiving food, but with many non-traditional items as well to satisfy all dietary needs and desires But in recent years the collaboration has been different.
Not long ago, the BV Fellowship added an addition to their building with a new sanctuary, and they did major renovations, including a new kitchen. The building was scheduled to open just after Covid struck! However, both of our buildings were closed for group activities during the worst of the pandemic. Our feasts were different: none in 2020, small ones at a couple of UU homes in 2021, and back to a large one at UUCB in 2022. Finally, we will have a chance for a feast at the Fellowship, where they have plenty of space in their former sanctuary. Now they have a new kitchen with two dishwashers that work! During November you will be able to sign up for the Thanksgiving meal either on line or at UUCB.
On Christmas Day, we will have a brunch at UUCB. All are invited to bring their favorite mid-day food and help with a wonderful UU family-style gathering. Bring your family and friends. This is a newer tradition that began a few years ago when Christmas fell on a Sunday. Before that we had Circle Supper type gatherings in UU homes on Christmas–sometimes for dinner and sometimes for brunch. If you would like to help hosting on Christmas day this year, at UUCB, please contact Dianne Ewing, 303-776-0227, dianne@ewingdev.com.
Circle Suppers will be back on the second Saturday of most months beginning on January 13. We have a good start on lining up hosts for 2024. If you’d like to host a group of UUs in your home for a pot luck meal, either themed or not themed, contact Dianne Ewing. You do not need a large home to host. We can have several Circle Suppers on the same evening. Three dinners of 6 each is just as nice as one with 18 guests! And in warm weather, we can meet in a park!
